Well yesterday we ended up spending the whole day in Dawlish, at their annual air show. We used to live in Dawlish up until 3 years ago, and the air show and carnival were one of the highlights of the year for the little town. Around 90 thousand people attend the show each year, so the little town is flooded with spectators, adding to the atmosphere.

They have a whole host of planes on display - including the much loved Red Arrows. It is a long day (you have to get there early to get a decent view!) but well worth it. Entry is free, which is amazing! It costs a huge amount of money to put on the display and lots of fund raising and hard work is done behind the scenes. Many of the local businesses sponsor the air show and donation buckets are taken around the crowd in the hope that people will contribute a few pennies as they enjoy their day.

We were pretty fortunate with the weather. After a morning of dull and grey skies, we only had a couple of quick showers to contend with. The rest of the day we were basking in sunshine.

Tiegan enjoyed the sunshine...

As did Joseph...

and Chelsea...

Whilst Callum enjoyed the food...

and the view from my dear daddy's shoulders...

Of course we were there to watch the planes and helicopters adorn the skies - want to see?

The Red Arrows were breathtakingly amazing as usual...

but the absolute highlight for me this year was watching the very special fly past with the Vulcan and Red Arrows combined - just WOW. The feeling was very special.

This is the only Vulcan aircraft flying in the WORLD.

  3. Brilliant photos. Lucky you seeing the Vulcan fly, we've only seen it at Duxford museum, secured inside its hangar.

  4. Wonderful, wonderful photos!

A couple of weeks ago when the kids and I were in a car park when the Vulcan flew right over us. He was so low, not far above the tree lines. We were all just mesmorized!

I just noticed C was wearing braces! Has she had them long?
